This is a handout of The Anne Moody Program held on June 12, 2017, at Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, Miss. The program was presented in honor of Anne Moody (1940 – 2015) and her legacy as a civil rights activist and noted author of Coming of Age in Mississippi (1968). A native of Centreville, Ms. Moody lived in Wilkinson and Amite Counties in Mississippi. She was a native of Centreville and lived briefly in Woodville. When she died in February 2015, she was living in Gloster.

The Rev. Fred Moody Jr., her brother, served as guest speaker for the program, along with Dr. Stephanie Scott-Sullivan, guidance Counselor at William Winans Middle School. Mr. Larry Lee, the Mayor of Centreville, shared his reflections on Ms. Moody’s legacy. The event, first suggested by Deputy Warden Alan Chapman, was organized by the Committee for the Anne Moody History Project (see @AnneMoodyHP on Twitter). Roscoe Barnes III is chairman of the committee.
