In this thesis, we study the influence of processing parameters, sample geometry, machine design and various factors that are intrinsic to the SLM process on the surface roughness of SLM Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The experimental observation of a multitude of phenomena that are interesting to AM industry and machine developer is made possible by the novel design of specimens and experiments.
