Evolving population in a resource-rich environment between updates 30,000 and 50,000. Through localized reproduction, patches of cooperators (blue) and cheaters (grey) formed. Patches without sufficient public good were decimated by a periodic environmental disturbance, creating empty space (white), which could subsequently be colonized by adjacent individuals.
