This Thesis investigates the role and nature of social inequality in Australian cities and the implications it presents for the transition to more liveable, sustainable and resilient water sensitive cities. It offers new insights into urban water use practices in communities varying in social advantage and disadvantage and provides recommendations on how future water resource management initiatives can reduce inequalities in living conditions, sustainability and vulnerability experienced throughout urban areas in Australia.
