This data visualisation presents the shape variability, geographic origin and pungency level in 222 genotypes of Capsicum annum based on cluster analysis obtained with 32,950 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).

Background:
Knowledge on population structure and genetic diversity in vegetable crops is essential for association mapping studies and genomic selection. Genotyping by sequencing (GBS) represents an innovative method for large scale SNP detection and genotyping of genetic resources. The associated publication describes the use of the GBS approach for the genome-wide identification of SNPs in a collection of Capsicum spp. accessions and for the assessment of the level of genetic diversity in a subset of 222 cultivated pepper (C. annum) genotypes.

Related data on the distribution of master tag coverage at each position, along the 12 pepper chromosomes, along with the Capsicum accessions used, is accessible via the first reference link below.
