STUDY ON THE TWO PHASE FLOW BEHAVIOURS OF PULVERIZED COAL TRANSPORT SYSTEM TO BLAST FURNACE

thesis
posted on 2018-05-09, 05:24 authored by YUNFENG LI
Pneumatic transport of pulverized coal (PC) is an essential part in the modern blast furnace system. The behavior of the gas-pulverized coal flow (gas-PC flow) through the injection lance is complicated and affected by flow pulsation and fluctuation. This thesis provides a computational study to understand the gas-PC flow behavior through Laval nozzles and the blind tee bends. Its aim is to identify the mechanisms leading to pulsation and fluctuation in the system and on this basis, develop methods to better suppress the pulsation and fluctuation. This is important for stable furnace operation and improving energy efficiency.
