Mental health patients are increasingly using Emergency Departments (ED) as a means of treatment and support. Over recent years there have been a number of policy changes and increased presentation rates, that have the potential to influence the nature of risk assessment in EDs. Specifically this includes cigarette bans, National Emergency Access Targets, and busy workloads. This thesis including published works utilized a mixed methods design to examine multiple key stakeholder experiences of risk assessment.
