Protostome classification activity
I wrote this activity to have students work through the defining characteristics of various protostomes that I cover in my Introduction to Biology course.
For in class materials I remove the red box (upper right corner) and print slides 4-18, place them back-to-back and laminate them. The students get a key (slides 2 & 3) and an organism sheet and they are to answer the questions for each organism based on the info provided.
After class all of the slides (with the red box restored)
are provided on-line so they can prepare for the exam. Exam questions are taken from sheets; for
example they may be given the picture and notes from the earthworm sheet and asked
“This organism would be considered a (a)
protostome (b) deuterostome (c) cnidarian (d) sponge”
