Practice Makes Perfect: Building Statutory Research Skills for Law Students - ALLA Conference Poster

<div>At Monash University, the Law Library team has partnered with first and third year unit lecturers to introduce and build legislative research skills. Early skills are developed through workshops and eLearning tasks followed by small assessable quizzes. In later years, learning tasks and assessments ask students to apply skills to legislation used in class, placing the learning in context.</div><div>This poster presents an overview of the pedagogy and application of the learning tasks, along with survey results from the unit Criminal Procedure showing that students found the task a useful, practical legal skills exercise, improving their understanding within the unit and preparing them for legal practice.</div><div>The poster was presented on August 25, 2016 at the Australian Law Librarians Association (ALLA) Conference 2016 in Melbourne, Victoria.</div>
