At Panoche Hills Ecological Reserve (36.6953, -120.7969), micro-climate was monitored under desert shrub canopies and in the open. Hobo environmental loggers were used with 12-bit Temperature/Relative Humidity Smart Sensors (S-THB-M002) probes, Hobo Prob V2 integrated sensors, Hobo pendants, or camera traps with temperature only sensors. The scale sampled was 1m in each instance. Sensors were deployed 15 cm above the soil surface under the shrub canopy of Ephedra californica (sheltered from direct sunlight) or at adjacent, open paired-microsites within 1.5m of a focal shrub. Data were collected from 2014-2017 and again in 2019. Key ecological variables included microsite, location, vegetation type, and extent of vegetation at each microsite. Temperatures listed are in degrees Celsius, and relative humidity is in percent from 0 to 100.
