These presentation slides and planning documents were for the 2018 Open Education Week event held at the UC San Diego Library fir library staff. This presentation was based upon a similar presentation given by Allegra Swift and Jennifer Thompson at the Claremont Colleges Library for a similar event in 2017.
An important foundation for student success relies on access to course materials. Libraries nationwide are finding that students are not purchasing high-priced textbooks and other course materials due to the financial burden these materials often present. This session presents an overview of the available options for providing affordable course materials and Open Educational Resources (OERs) -- and the difference between the two -- to support academic success.
