Novel Compounds for Anti-Cancer Directed Enzyme Prodrug Therapy Utilising Nitroreductase

thesis
posted on 2018-09-06, 04:35 authored by ANDREW TANG
Cancer is a disease with global impact and there is a constant need to develop new treatments to target it. One method is to take potent drugs and activate them at the tumour. We’ve been working on a strategy that will release potent drugs only when activated by a specific enzyme which can be delivered to the tumour. We have success designed a chemical system that only releases the payload in the presence of the enzyme. We hope that this design will be used to make anti-cancer drugs safer.
