New Dialog, New Services with Altmetrics: Lingnan University Library Experience

Altmetrics poses new challenges and opportunities for academic libraries. Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) identified altmetrics in their recent two consecutive reports of Top Trends in Academic Libraries. Altmetrics is considered as a natural extension of what academic libraries have been excelled, presenting various possibilities to build up new roles for changing the landscape of scholarly communication. This paper chronicles Lingnan University Library’s approach integrating altmetrics into its institutional repository (thereafter IR), triggering new dialog with our researchers and to re-energize their attention on our scholarly communication services with new perspective.Status:Accept
