Nation/states: "Fuzzy Federalism"

Changes in the way the governance of democracies are leading towards the emergence of a new form of federalism "fuzzy federalism". This is true of federations and even "unitary" states. Britain has new, interactive relationships Between Westminster and the national assemblies. Parallels in Australia are also significant. The interdependence and interaction between central and state/nation jurisdictions and local government, school communities, private sector and not for profit organisations providers of public services all mark significant qualitative departures from rigid black letter constitutionalism. Governance is operating through a mix of formal statutory instruments, culture and the effects of fuzzy logic.
