The competition between 205 species of Mediterranean nekton examined, specifically regarding: (a) habitat use, (b) food resources of adult/mature stages, (c) spawning habitat use. Also, in this table combinations of traits by resource that are not in use from any of the 205 species analysed, are indicated (empty/possibly available niches)

The excel file has 3 worksheets:

(1) habitat_use: This worksheet contains the 205 species examined, sorted by the modalities of the traits (optimal depth, habitat type, seabed type) relevant to habitat use.

The trait depth range, appearing at the table (characterizing a species as eurybathic or stenobathic) for habitat use, was added, not to describe resource use, but to indicate the intensity of potential competition.

(2) adult_food: This worksheet contains the 205 species examined, sorted by the modalities of the traits (maximum length, trophic level, feeding type, diet) relevant to the use of food resources by mature fish.

(3) spawning_habitat: This worksheet contains the 205 species examined, sorted by the modalities of the traits (spawning period, spawning habitat) relevant to spawning habitat use
