Introduction to the Library Carpentry Toolbox
journal contribution
posted on 2017-07-18, 09:43 authored by Carmi Cronje, Fiona JonesParticipants placed themselves at the leading edge of library practice, beginning to learn reproducible methods for cleaning and transforming data. Led by Research Librarians from Macquarie University Library who have been experimenting with the tools and methods of Library Carpentry, learners expanded their own digital literacy. Attendees of the workshop had the opportunity to try OpenRefine and experiment with its basic functions using library specific examples. Workshop activities included exploring large unstructured datasets – organising, cleaning and standardising inconsistent and messy data.
