These data describe in-situ measurements of the cortical cell type distributions or cell lengths from confocal micrographs of merino wool fibres. The associated study, reported in the connected publication, used these data to test theories about the underlying mechanism of hair curvature in mammals. The study adhered fully to New Zealand ethics laws.
