This project is part of Ceres Artists in Residence at The Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture (MoDA). The aim of the residency was to use objects from MoDA's collection as a starting point for exploration of natural prints and dyes with the aim of raising the awareness of sustainability in design research.

Design inspired by 'Geometric design in beige, brown, orange and red, 1933' from MoDa's archive collection.

My Geo design is a response to the 1933 textile design. The geometric shapes depict the rhythm of an imaginary and stylised city scape.

I screen printed the repeat design pattern in different colourways, on a variety of fabrics including wool, silk and linen.
Some of the fabrics were dyed beforehand. Carrots tops, pomegranate skins, red cabbage and dried elderberries are amongst the natural dyes I used to produce a background colour.

The dye pastes were made from scratch using bio-waste and plants extracts.
