Genome lengths of common viruses pathogenic to humans

dataset
posted on 2018-09-18, 16:46 authored by Philippa MatthewsPhilippa Matthews, Anna McNaughton
We have used viral sequences available in Genbank (The National Center for Biotechnology Information, NCBI) to assimilate a table of viruses that may be isolated from human hosts (most of these are pathogens, but some may occur as bystanders in metagenomic datasets).
For each virus, we have listed the typical genome length (in nucleotides) to allow comparison between individual agents and between different types of virus.
For the majority of viruses, there is also a reference sequence listed by Genbank, for which we have provided a link / accession number.
