Formation and X-ray Crystal Structure Determination of the Novel Triplatinum Cluster [(Ph<sub>3</sub>P)Pt(μ-SiC<sub>12</sub>H<sub>8</sub>)]<sub>3</sub> from Reaction of Silafluorene with (Ph<sub>3</sub>P)<sub>2</sub>Pt(η<sup>2</sup>-C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>4</sub>)

Reaction of silafluorene (H<sub>2</sub>SiC<sub>12</sub>H<sub>8</sub>) with (Ph<sub>3</sub>P)<sub>2</sub>Pt(η<sup>2</sup>-C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>4</sub>) in C<sub>6</sub>D<sub>6</sub> (or C<sub>7</sub>D<sub>8</sub>) provided the trinuclear complex [(Ph<sub>3</sub>P)Pt(μ-SiC<sub>12</sub>H<sub>8</sub>)]<sub>3</sub> (<b>3</b>). The structure of <b>3</b>, which exhibits a nonplanar Pt<sub>3</sub>Si<sub>3</sub> core, was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
