Flora of the canga of the Serra dos Carajás, Pará, Brazil: Dioscoreaceae

Abstract The study presents a floristic survey for the species of Dioscoreaceae recorded in the canga of Serra dos Carajás, Pará state. Detailed descriptions, identification key, photos, geographical distribution and morphological comments are provided for all species, as well comments on the habitat. Six species were recorded in the study area, all belonging to the genus Dioscorea, including D. planistipulosa, a new record for the state and the Amazonian region.
