Spider mites (Tetranychidae) and oak lecanium scale insects (Coccidae: Parthenolecanium scale insects) were the most abundant herbivores on study trees. Five most common arthropods in funnel beat samples in (a) 2013 and (b) 2014. Linear models were preferred; if linear fit was poor even after data transformation, we used generalized models. Error bars are mean±SEM (Online version is in colour.)
