Fields in the S2 dynamo
Movie of magnetic field at the surface of the Earth's core, together with axisymmetric part of magnetic field (B) and velocity field (U) within the shell.
Fields are extracted from a high resolution simulation of the geodynamo employing spherical harmonics up to degree 1000 and more than 1000 radial levels.
The Ekman number is E=nu/(D^2.Omega) = 10^(-7) and the magnetic Prandtl number is Pm=nu/eta=0.1
