We present two numerical codes for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation (NSE) in rotating spheres, including Boussinesq buoyancy and magnetic induction (i.e. geophysical contexts).
SINGE is a parallel eigenmode solver, while XSHELLS is a high performance parallel time-stepping code.
SINGE and XSHELLS discretize the fields using a radial grid of shells (finite differences) and decompose the fields within each shell into vector spherical harmonics.
Various boundary conditions and forcings are implemented.
Both codes are free and open source (CeCILL License, compatible with GNU GPL): everybody is free to use, modify, contribute.
