Dissertation Defense Slides

This dissertation develops an approach to studying the governance of shared resource systems  - or commons - in distributed scientific work. Through comparative analysis of four different commons, the results show how the nesting of authority in different governance systems allows for sustained growth, innovation, and cooperation in what are otherwise competitive and hostile environments of interaction.
