Recent evidence from neuropsychological and fMRI studies suggests a connection between memory for the past and thinking about the future. Its thought that we use our past experiences as the basis for our future plans and decisions. 

Here we examine if the hippocampus and medial frontal cortex make distinct contributions to self-projection and self-referential processing
