This presentation was delivered during the 10th annual conference of the South African Centre for High Performance Computing in December 2016.

The purpose was to

(1) discuss ten categories of critically important data skills required by researchers and postgraduate students today; (2) emphasise the wide array of data sources accessible to researchers; (3) provide links to resources that already address the need for skills in each of the ten categories mentioned in (1)
