DRUG ABUSE, RELAPSE, PREVENTION EDUCATION AND TREATMENT EVALUATION IN MALAYSIA: A MULTI-PERSPECTIVE STUDY USING THE MIXED METHODS APPROACH

This research explores the perceptions of drug use and relapse among non-user university students against real-life accounts of drug rehab patients and treatment providers. This study also provides an in-depth assessment of evaluative feedback about drug prevention education and drug rehab services. Substantial differences and similarities were found between non-user perceptions and the real-life accounts. The evaluation outcomes have also resulted in a basic framework to implement an interactive, tailored and patient-centred approach to drug abuse treatment and improve collaboration between treatment providers and agencies involved in public education, through an integration of the drug treatment and prevention education systems.
