<p>This figure illustrates the onion layer relationships within a dialogue game between a <strong>protocol</strong>, which defines <em>what is permitted</em>, <strong>reasoning</strong>, which defines <em>what is relevant</em>, and <strong>strategy</strong>, which defines <em>what is good</em>. The strategically good utterances are further illustrated in relation to the optimal utterances which are a subset of the permitted, relevant, and good things that can be said.</p>
