Between Freedom and Culture: How should the State treat Indigenous Peoples?

<p></p><p>Abstract How should the State treat indigenous peoples, if all citizens are worthy of equal consideration and respect? Through the analysis of three normative proposals of multiculturalism, namely the communitarian one by Charles Taylor; the liberal one by Will Kymlicka; and the postcolonial one by James Tully, we came to the conclusion that the State must guarantee the right to self-determination for these people and that this right should not be limited by individual rights.</p><p></p>
