Continuous tensile strain from our device changed the cell morphology and increased the expression of inflammatory and osteogenic gene. These biological effects were similar to those in the PDL during orthodontic tooth movement. Therefore, our new simple device is useful for exploring the response to continuous tensile strain applied to the cells in culture.
