The PreSync project aims to improve the Cactus Framework by changing how it handles ghost zone synchronization and application of boundary conditions. We replace the manual scheduling of these features with an automated scheduling system. The new method tracks the region of validity for each variable and applies boundary conditions or synchronization as needed by the scheduled subroutines. This change makes Cactus more user-friendly and greatly simplifies programming using Cactus.
