The aid effectiveness is comprehensive topic that carries essential names of authors in contemporary history, such as William Esterly, Jeffrey Sachs, and Dambisa Moyo. This research offers unique perspective on development aid literature, and its aim is coined in the mutual cooperation between the European Union and Sub-Saharan Africa. The outstanding example is provided through one of EU’s financial instruments, the European Development Programme that heated European budget battle in the last few years. This paper critically evaluates arguments of EDF budgetisation and argues that the integration into the budget will result in the primacy to the EU’s neighbours, undermining EDF’s added value, and weakening the financial commitment towards pro-poor policies in African countries.
