The topic of this DIY Guide is Lexical Priming: A method in psycholinguistics that shows relationships between words in the mental lexicon. Follow the instructions and you can demonstrate the phenomenon to a live audience.

This demonstration was created by Developmental Psycholinguist Suzy J Styles when she was a Career Development Fellow at the Department of experimental Psychology and St Hugh's College, University of Oxford. She has been using the demo for around 10 years, in undergraduate lectures, as well as public science demonstration for adults and high-school students. It always works so long as there are at least 10 willing participants in the room. There is always much laughter.
