A story of the stone
A Story of the Stone is a masterpiece of Chinese vernacular literature and one of the four greatest Chinese classical novels. It is remarkable not only for its huge cast of characters and psychological scope, but also for its precise and detailed observation of life and social structures in the 18th century China. It was written over approximately 55
10 years from 1749 to 1759. However, it was published anonymously until the 20th century, so there is some debate as to the author contributions. Currently, the 1st to 80th chapters are attributed to Xueqin Cao, and the remaining chapters are attributed to E Gao.
Our contribution is, we collect the e-version from the website http://www.hongloumengs.cn/ and integrate the separated chapters into a single file. And we replace the full stop in traditional Chinese (a small circle) with the English full stop.
The material is used to detect long-rang correlations embedded in sentence series.
