This poster was presented at the American Geophysical Union 2013 Fall Meeting. The aim of this work is to determine statistically how important the 'sympathetic eruption' effect is. In conclusion, it is a weak effect overall: the occurrence of individual events in different ARs do not appear to be highly correlated. However, the effect is stronger for larger events. Furthermore the sympathetic effect may manifest itself moreso as a sympathetic 'influence' of one active region over another, leading to higher flare rates in both regions, rather than as an influence of one event over the occurrence of another event.
