A Pentecostal Finds Grace

This article, which appeared in the May-June 2003 issue of Grace in Focus, presents the testimony of Dr. Roscoe Barnes III. It shows how he came to faith in Christ in the mid-1970s and later embraced Free Grace theology and the belief in eternal security. The article includes his spiritual and emotional struggles as a result of poor theology and legalistic teachings in the Pentecostal church. Barnes writes that his eyes were opened while reading the book of Romans. He explains that his life was changed by a number of Bible passages, especially Romans 3:21-22: "But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction."
