Mammoth skeletal elements in archaeological contexts across Europe, between 75-15 ka BP. The map and the diagram show the spatio-temporal locations of the collections. The different colors denote different cultural attributions of the sites, as: late Middle Palaeolithic, Transitional and Upper Palaeolithic / Late Palaeolithic. The graphic intended to show that the so-called 'mammoth megasites' are characteristic of the Central - Eastern European region.
