University of Auckland Diabetic Retinopathy (UoA-DR) Database Waleed Abdulla Renoh Johnson Chalakkal 10.17608/k6.auckland.5985208.v3 https://auckland.figshare.com/articles/journal_contribution/UoA-DR_Database_Info/5985208 Introduction
UoA-DR database is created as part of the research being carried out at the University of Auckland aimed at developing an automatic screening system to screen patients affected by Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). This database was developed in collaboration with three hospitals in India Al-Salama Eye hospital, Dr. Tony Fernandez Eye Hospital, and Giridhar Eye Institute. The database consists of 200 retinal images mostly affected with diabetic retinopathy.

This database also contains the manually segmented features. These are: retinal vessels, optic discs and fovea, which can be used as a ground truth for other retinal image processing algorithms. Also, for each image in this database, the optic disc center and fovea center locations are identified manually. Medical diagnosis is provided for each image based on guidelines provided by the International Clinical Diabetic Retinopathy scale.

Contents of the Database

The following materials are included in the database

Retinal images: 200 images taken by Fundus camera

Images resolution: 2124 x 2056 pixels

Extracted features: 3 per image (Retinal Vessels, Optic disc boundary and center, Fovea center location)

Excel files: 2 (DR Classification and OD Fovea Index)

PDF file: 1 (UoA-DR diabetic retinopathy severity classification.pdf)

Database size ≈ 500MB

Database Download

UoA-DR database is available freely to researchers or research units on a case-by-case basis. All requests must be submitted through email to the research investigators by any researcher, institution, academic, or research unit head. To receive a copy of the UoA-DR database, the authorized researcher must sign the attached License and agree to observe the depicted restrictions. The database will be made available for download through a private link emailed to the End Users after receiving the signed agreement.
