Blood clots cause most heart attacks and strokes. Drugs such as aspirin are used to prevent heart attack and stroke but are frequently ineffective. This thesis identifies a new approach to stop blood clot formation and then develops and tests a candidate therapy that targets this new approach and that may improve heart attack and stroke prevention.
