They have the potential to be used for treating a wide range of diseases, but because they are rare it is necessary to grow them in the laboratory to generate the large number of cells required. In my PhD, I identified a drug that keeps these cells fit and healthy during culturing. Therefore, the cells remain potent and will do their job more effectively when given to patients. ER -
