Modelling transition flows with Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics NOMERITAE 10.4225/03/59b9bf8f09b89 https://bridges.monash.edu/articles/thesis/Modelling_transition_flows_with_Smoothed_Particle_Hydrodynamics/5400724 Flow inside drains may experience transitions between free surface and pressurized conditions. These transitions are complex and difficult to model. This research aims to model complex transient hydraulic phenomena occurring in drains using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). An Explicit Incompressible SPH (EISPH) was applied to transition flows in conduits. The main contributions of this research are: (i) the establishment of EISPH as a viable method to model transition flows in closed conduits and (ii) the development of methods to deal with inflow boundary conditions when available data are in the form of flow and water depths. 2017-09-13 23:30:20 Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics transition flows free surface flow pressurized flow Civil Engineering not elsewhere classified
