However, there is limited research on the full extent to which academic cybersecurity research contributes to commercial solutions to improve information security. A large-scale analysis of patent citations of academic publications (e.g. journal articles and conference proceedings) on cybersecurity offers one method of capturing data to measure the transition from research into practice. -- The research information tool SciVal and the bibliographic database Scopus provide the ability to discover academic literature on cybersecurity and the patents that cite these publications. -- The results of this demonstration indicate that recent patents cite academic cybersecurity-focused publications at a rate similar to, and in many cases higher than, most other All Science Journal Classification (ASJC) categories related to Computer Science and Engineering.
