As the world grapples with the effects of climate change resulting in global warming and dwindling supplies, Photovoltaics (PV) have emerged as the most promising class of renewable energy technology with the potential to meet the power demands and future emission goals. All-polymer solar cells which employ semiconducting polymers to generate electricity have seen a phenomenal rise in their performance over the past few years. The thesis focuses on developing high efficiency all-polymer solar systems and studying the photo-physical processes along with device physics to build a solid understanding in processes that govern their performance.
