The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, with the assistance of consultants Spiller Gibbens Swan Pty. Ltd, has produced a report on the relationship between population growth and environmental stress. The report, Population Futures, was prepared for the Business Council of Australia and has been used by the Council’s Executive Director, David Buckingham, to underpin the Council’s care for population growth. However, the report understates the environmental consequences of population growth and does not provide a firm foundation for the Business Council’s case.
