%X The boratabenzene derivative of divalent ytterbium complex (C5H5BNPh2)2Yb(THF)2 (1) was synthesized and characterized. Reaction of 1 with α-diimine PhNC(Me)C(Me)NPh in toluene afforded a trivalent ytterbium complex, [C5H5BNPh2]2Yb[PhNC(Me)C(Me)NPh] (2), which was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The redox process is solvent sensitive and reversible.
