On 2 July 2015 the BBC reported that an outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) had claimed lives in South Korea. On 27 July 2015 around 4 PM BST BBC Breaking News reported that the Manchester Royal Infirmary shut its A&E unit after a suspected Middle East Respiratory Syndrome outbreak. A hospital spokesman said there was "no significant risk to public health". This dataset is shared as a .csv file as a means to have a fixed data point documenting the articles with the keyword 'MERS' tracked by Altmetric and their metrics as of 27 July 2015 at around 4 PM BST. The report is the result of a 'dumb' search of the keyword 'MERS'. Therefore data in the dataset will require manual refining depending on your interests. The dataset is also likely to require deduplication.Data was correct at the time of exporting. Metrics are expected to change in reports obtained later. Hopefully the sharing of this dataset can encourage research into which of these articles about MERS are available open access and which ones are not, as well as the tracking of future changes in their metrics. With gratitude to Altmetric for enabling access to the data.     ER -
