Woodland 2 data set
We observed 10 different trees from same elm tree species, at York university campus woodlot at around 3:35 pm. During the observation we recorded the diameter at breast height (dbh) of each of the 10 different tree in meter by using the transect measuring tape. And we estimated the extent of canopy covered by each tree by making a square with our fingers and holding them up toward the sky to see how much the tree covered the sky. The amount of canopy of the tree was measured in percentage, based on our individual observation, where lower percentage represented lower coverage from the tree and higher percentage indicating higher coverage from the tree. In addition, we measured the nearest distance and diameter at breast height of the sapling of the same specie of the elm tree for each of the 10 trees in meters using the transect measuring tape.
