Visualization of deformed graphene sheets producing pseudomagnetic fields
These images are additional visualizations for the example calculations of the paper "Designing electronic properties of two-dimensional crystals through optimization of deformations", New J. Phys. 16(9):093044 (2014).
They show how deformations, caused by adherence to a patterned substrate, can give rise to pseudomagnetic fields in the graphene sheet. In this case, the pattern of the substrate was chosen in order to produce a desired pseudomagnetic field.
These images are designed to be viewed in parallel with the cited article (which is open access: see DOI link below).
