Visualization of deformed graphene sheets producing pseudomagnetic fields

These images are additional visualizations for the example calculations of the paper "Designing electronic properties of two-dimensional crystals through optimization of deformations", New J. Phys. 16(9):093044 (2014).

They show how deformations, caused by adherence to a patterned substrate, can give rise to pseudomagnetic fields in the graphene sheet. In this case, the pattern of the substrate was chosen in order to produce a desired pseudomagnetic field.

These images are designed to be viewed in parallel with the cited article (which is open access: see DOI link below).

Filename convention:

patternN_B10_zscaleM.png:

Corresponds to figure 3 of the cited article, row N, with vertical dimension scaled by a factor of M.

patternN_B100.png:

Corresponds to figure 4 of the cited article, row N. Vertical dimension is unscaled.
