Lillis Dust Sequencing Data

dataset
posted on 2013-05-31, 16:23 authored by Steven KembelSteven Kembel, James MeadowJames Meadow

16S sequence data and metadata sampled from dust in rooms in the Lillis Hall building at the Unviersity of Oregon.

Three sets of files are included in this data archive.

dust_mapping.txt - a tab-delimited mapping file for use with QIIME software. Includes information on primer and barcode sequences associated with each sample.
*** note that in the raw sequence data, a combinatorial or dual-index barcoding approach was used - the first 6bp of the barcode are on the forward read, and the final 6bp of the barcode are on the reverse read. The barcodes will need to be combined into a single 12bp construct prior to parsing into samples.

dust_metadata.txt - a tab-delimited file containing metadata associated with each sample.

dust_metadata_description.txt - a tab-delimited file with description of each column in the metadata file.

dust.fastq.tgz.part-xx - raw sequence data in FASTQ format, produced by two sequencing runs using Illumina MiSeq 150bp paired-end. Due to file size limitations, the original tar/gzip archive has been split into seven parts. To recombine and uncompress the sequence files, the following command works in a Linux/Unix environment:
cat dust.fastq.tgz.part-a*| tar xz
